Eleven half-read books, then 34 finished in two years

Illustrative example β a written scenario showing how the tool is used, not a real customer testimonial.
Before
Arunachalam bought books faster than he read them. Eleven sat part-finished on the shelf, each abandoned around page sixty, and buying the next one felt easier than finishing any of them.
What they logged
- Every reading session β date, pages read, a short note
- Books moved through want-to-read, reading, finished
- Notes per book, which became his lecture material
The moment it clicked
The session log showed he averaged 18 pages whenever he sat down. So a 300-page book was seventeen sittings, not a mountain. He capped himself at two books at a time.
What changed
| Measure | Before | After 2 years | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Books finished / year | 3β4 | β | 17 |
| Abandoned mid-way | 11 on the shelf | β | 2 |
| Reading notes kept | none | β | 34 booksβ worth |
How they keep track now
He logs the session immediately after reading, and checks pages-per-week on Sundays. Two falling weeks means the book is boring β he drops it deliberately instead of drifting.
βSeventeen sittings. Once I knew the number, the book stopped being intimidating.β β Arunachalam Pandian, Kumbakonam
