💡 Idea Vault App
Every great idea
you'll never forget
again.
A personal idea management system that captures raw thoughts, develops them with notes and links, scores them by impact and effort, and moves them all the way to done.
✅ Free forever · 💡 Unlimited ideas · 🔒 100% private
You had a brilliant idea.
Then you had lunch.
Ideas arrive in the shower, on a walk, mid-conversation — then vanish because there was nowhere good to put them. The ones you do write down sit in notes apps and never move. Idea Vault captures and develops them.
❌ Without an idea system
- 😩 Great idea at 7 AM, forgotten by 9 AM — gone forever
- 🗒️ Notes app graveyard — hundreds of orphaned lines with no context
- 🌀 No way to compare ideas — which one to actually act on?
- 📦 Good ideas "shelved" with no next action, never revisited
- 📉 No track record — impossible to see how many ideas you've shipped
✅ With Idea Vault
- ⚡ Capture instantly — title, source, category, one tap
- 📊 Score ideas by impact × effort × priority — best ones float up
- 🔧 Develop ideas with notes, links, and a next-action field
- 🚀 6-stage pipeline from Raw → Done keeps everything moving
- 🎲 Random surfacer resurfaces buried gems you forgot you had
Ideas move through 6 clear stages
Every idea starts as Raw and progresses only when you decide it should. Nothing gets lost. Nothing stays stuck forever without you knowing.
Plus 📦 Shelved — for ideas you're keeping but not acting on right now.
Everything a serious idea system needs
From first spark to finished project — every tool to capture, develop, prioritise, and execute your ideas in one place.
Instant idea capture
Add an idea in seconds — give it a title, pick a source (shower, reading, conversation…), and choose a category. No friction, no excuse to skip it.
Impact × Effort scoring
Rate every idea on impact (low / medium / high), effort required, and priority. The app automatically scores and surfaces your best opportunities first.
6-stage status pipeline
Move ideas from Raw → Developing → Ready to Act → In Progress → Done (or Shelved). Nothing gets lost and nothing stays stuck without you seeing it.
Collections & folders
Group related ideas into named collections — "Product Ideas", "Blog Posts", "Side Projects". Pin your most active collections to the top.
Tags & search
Add comma-separated tags to every idea and filter your vault instantly. Cross-category themes become easy to spot and act on.
Notes & reference links
Attach follow-up notes and URL references to any idea. Build context over time so when you revisit it, everything you researched is right there.
Next-action field
For every idea, define the very next physical step needed to move it forward. Removes the "where do I even start?" paralysis when it's time to act.
Random idea surfacer
One click resurfaces a random Raw idea from your vault. Old gems you forgot you captured come back to life instead of sitting buried forever.
Due dates & overdue alerts
Assign a target date to time-sensitive ideas. The dashboard flags anything overdue so nothing important slips through the cracks.
From shower thought to shipped — in 4 steps
Capture the thought
Add a title, source, and category in seconds. The idea is safe — you can expand it later.
Develop it
Add body text, notes, and reference links. Rate it on impact, effort, and priority so it gets a score.
Move it through the pipeline
Progress the status as work happens — Raw → Developing → Ready → In Progress.
Ship it
Mark it Done. Your track record of shipped ideas builds over time and motivates the next one.
Common questions
How is this different from a notes app like Notion or Apple Notes?
Notes apps store text. Idea Vault manages ideas as structured objects — each one has a status, score, priority, effort rating, next action, and pipeline stage. You can compare ideas, surface the best ones, and track which ones you shipped. Notes apps have no concept of "what should I act on next."
What is the idea score and how is it calculated?
Each idea is rated on three dimensions: Impact (1–3), Effort (inverted: low effort = 3), and Priority (1–3). The score is Impact × Effort × Priority, giving a max of 9. High-impact, low-effort, high-priority ideas float to the top of your Ready to Act list automatically.
What does "Ready to Act" mean vs "In Progress"?
"Ready to Act" means the idea is fully developed, scored, and you've decided it's worth doing — but you haven't started yet. "In Progress" means active work is happening right now. Keeping them separate lets you maintain a backlog of good ideas that are next in line.
What is the Random Idea Surfacer?
A one-click button on your dashboard that picks a random Raw idea from your vault. Over time your vault fills with ideas you captured but never revisited. The surfacer brings them back up so nothing stays buried forever.
Can I organise ideas into folders or projects?
Yes — Collections act as folders. Create as many as you need (e.g. "Product Ideas", "Writing", "Work Projects"), assign ideas to them, and pin your most active collections to the top of your dashboard.
Is there a limit to how many ideas I can store?
No. Store as many ideas as you want — raw thoughts, half-formed concepts, long-form plans. The vault is designed to hold everything without slowing down.
